Dave Scheer is an apologeticist and soul-winner at heart.  Dave loves to get folks interested in reading the Bible, as well as defending the Bible against typical criticisms.  In his spare time, he likes to fish, play acoustic guitar, and play Croquet-Golf (a lawn game he designed and hosts an annual tournament with good friends).
  • Born in Lockport, New York in 1949.
  • Graduated from Lockport Senior High School in 1967.
  • Played ice hockey in Canada and Niagara Falls during high school years.
  • Started at shortstop for varsity baseball junior and senior years.
  • Started in varsity soccer during the school’s first two years of offering soccer. Senior year MVP.
  • Started at shortstop in Midget “A” League for Essos and won first place and the play-offs in 1967.
  • Played ice hockey and soccer @SUNY Brockport and beyond in Rochester Premier leagues until 1976.
  • Born-again in Christ at the end of 1970 during senior year of college @ SUNY Brockport.
  • Graduated from SUNY Brockport in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
  • Hired at Spencerport High School as a health teacher in the fall of 1971. Retired from Spencerport in 2006.
  • Developed the health curriculum for Spencerport High School.
  • Coached JV boys soccer for 9 years.
  • Organized and ran a floor hockey program at Spencerport High School for students and teachers.
  • Earned Master’s Degree in Health Education from SUNY Brockport in 1976.
  • Organized a local public school program that brought in students of the Teen Challenge Drug Rehab Program as guest speakers to all health classes in Spencerport, Penfield, and Churchville.
  • Developed “In Search of Safe Sex” game and presented it at the New York State Annual Health Educator’s Convention at St. Lawrence University in 1998.
  • Retired from public school teaching in 2006 (35 year career).
  • Became devoted to Christ toward the end of 1970.
  • Served as program director for Spencerport’s “One in Christ” in 1976 that brought many churches together and provided several speakers.
  • Led several teen Bible studies over the years.
  • Began attending Christ Community Church in Brockport, NY in 1978.
  • Produced and hosted a Christian radio show on WWWG Rochester called “Changes” for several years.
  • Published first book, “PG-A Parental Guide to Rock” through Christian Publications out of Harrisburg, PA in 1986.
  • Married in 1987 and has two children.
  • Spoke at the Youth for Christ Annual Convention in Ocean City, N.J.
  • Presented many seminars in churches about the power of music.
  • Since 1972, has led adult Bible Studies, including teaching at Rochester’s and Buffalo’s Teen Challenge Drug Rehab Programs, Attica Prison, and some Rochester Rhino and Lancer pro soccer players.
  • Developed a chapter-by-chapter commentary of the entire Bible and posted it on scripturethoughts.com. About 15 years of research and editing.
  • Taught the Foundations Class and leads weekly Bible studies at musician Chris Wilson’s barn in Churchville covered by Christ Community Church in Brockport, N.Y.
  • Presents a Power Point Seminar entitled, “Biblical and Scientific Insights Against Evolution.”
  • Inducted into the Lockport, NY Ice Hockey Hall of Fame in 2020.
  • Inducted into the SUNY Brockport Ice Hockey Wall of Fame in 2022.
  • Inducted into the SUNY Brockport 1968 Soccer Team Hall of Fame (undefeated; ranked 8th in nation). Tied Army 3-3 in NCAA play-offs, but lost on cornerkicks. Rule changed the next year because of our game.  Army lost to Brown in the next round.
  • Authored a children’s book called, “The Mystery of the Hidden Bridge” by Lighthouse Christian Publishing in 2020, now available at Amazon.com. It’s a short story that explains how and why Jesus Christ can lead us into eternal life. It holds kids’ attention and can lead to great discussions in families. It has received great reviews!
