What does the Bible say about the issue of gradual climate change destroying the earth?

First, Genesis 8:22 states, “While the earth remains, seed time and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night, shall not cease.”

Then Matthew 24:37-39, 1 Thessalonians 5:1-4, and 1 Peter 3:10-12 state that earth’s end will be UNEXPECTED and SUDDEN. In fact people of that day will ne saying, “Peace and safety” (Not “oh no, it’s getting so hot here this must be the end of us!”).1 Peter does say that the earth and the heavens will be destroyed by intense heat, but again, it will be UNEXPECTED and SUDDEN.

Now some scientists strongly disagree with climate change scientists, but they are not interviewed too much in the media. I am all for conservation of our planet, but the extremists who are calling for billions of immediate dollars to remedy this bogus threat are deceived, and this can be yet another distraction from attacking our real threats to our great nation.

“Depart from Me I Never Knew You”

A little Q & A from my web site – scripturethoughts.comMatthew 7:21-23: “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles? And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me you who practice lawlessness.'” These verses make me fearful, how do you know if you are giving enough denial of self? Should we also ask God to show us our sinful nature when we ask him to forgive us of our sins? (Submitted by Ruth D.).

Dave – Do not fear these verses. You are not a person who “practices lawlessness” (willfully doing wrong with no conscience convicting you and no willingness to change). These verses apply to evil people who may fool humans but not God. But did these evil ones actually do those powerful things? Although these examples can be real and done by folks abiding in Jesus, they can also be faked by charlatans. Also, we do not need to know if we are denying our self enough for salvation because no one does. God’s mercy and grace are sufficient for you. If you walk with Him via this, you actually will be denying yourself more than if you sat around fretting about whether or not it’s enough.🙂 We walk by faith in His grace, not by sight (or mentally thinking we are perfect). Therefore, do not “set the bar so high” that it exacerbates you so much that you walk around under condemnation (Romans 8:1-2). In other words, do not strive to be good enough to please Him, but live life loving Him and others, feeding on His Word and you will be pleasing to Him. If your love for Him begins to fade, repent, meditate on his crucifixion, and ask Him to fill you with His love. Again, do not strive to “get in love with Him.” Remember – In Christ we are no longer condemned by The Law. 😊

Against Our Fallen Nature

When we want to change something that is wrong in us, our first inclination is to try to do it ourselves, and in some minor cases that may work. But what about negative strongholds like gossiping, lust (power, sex, fame, money), drug addiction, resentment/grudges, hate, depression, anxiety, brutal self-centeredness, and various fears? I had lots of built-up resentment toward my dad and I tried my best to rid myself of it for one whole year…and failed. Then I confessed to God that I did not have the ability to change this, but I knew that He loved my dad unconditionally. So I simply asked Him to give me that love…and He did! It was no small miracle to me. We have a loving Father that has so much power to help us, but we need to realize how far we have fallen (which is sometimes difficult because we are born into a fallen world). But if we are willing to totally yield our control to Jesus Christ (which goes against our fallen nature), things within us change for the better. One perk I never saw coming regarding my dad is after I was set free from resentment, no matter how ornery he got, it no longer bothered me. His disposition no longer controlled me. Wow, that is freedom! And I got this victory all because I no longer tried to be good, but let Jesus do His supernatural surgery on my dysfunctional heart. Here are some cool Scriptures that can help us with this issue: Psalms 46:10, Matthew 10:39, Matthew 19:26, and John 15:5. Have some fun discovering how great our Abba Father is. 🙂
